Synopsis
Plagues: The Microscopic Battlefield by Falynn Koch examines diseases and the immune system through the storyline of two plague germs, bubonic plague and yellow fever, in a simulation with a scientist. The book describes different types of germs, bacteria, virus, protozoa, and fungi, and what it means to be considered a plague. The book uses the two plagues as examples of how the immune systems fights off different types of germs off. The book also goes back in time with the two different plagues, to show the history of what people believed caused sickness and the eventual rise of germ theory.
